The ITF has announced that the crowd at the Ginasio Ibirapuera in Sao Paulo was the largest ever recorded at Billie Jean King Cup by Gainbridge Qualifier

Record crowd attends Qualifier between Brazil and Germany
A crowd of 8,050 watched the second day of the tie between Brazil and Germany, which sets a new single day attendance record for a Billie Jean King Cup Qualifier.
 
The combined attendance of 14,940 across the two days was also a new attendance record for a Qualifier tie.
 
Germany prevailed 3-1 after Laura Siegemund clinched two points in singles, defeating Brazilian No. 1 Beatriz Haddad Maia on the opening day before sealing victory against Carolina Alves.
 
Laura Pigossi came close to causing an upset against Germany No. 1 Tatjana Maria and credited the influence of the home crowd on her performance.
 
"I like playing with the fans," she said. "Feeling like I'm not alone on the court. Brazilians like to play together."
 
Haddad Maia gave the home fans something to cheer about when she bounced back to defeat Anna-Lena Friedsam in the first of the reverse singles matches on Saturday.
